PhotonPay has closed a $40 million Series C round led by Blockchain Capital to expand its stablecoin-focused Financial OS. SBI Group joined as a new investor, alongside existing backers IDG Capital, GL Ventures and Lightspeed Faction. The funding follows a January 2026 Series B round. PhotonPay reported $65 billion in annualized transaction volume as of August 2026, up from $30 billion reported at the time of its Series B. Its model combines stablecoin liquidity with bank relationships and local payment networks, rather than replacing those networks outright. The company says it holds 34 payment and financial licenses and regulatory authorizations and serves more than 200,000 corporate clients. It also plans an execution layer supporting the Model Context Protocol for autonomous AI agents. The expansion comes as Stripe and specialist firms including Rain and MassPay pursue corporate settlement opportunities.

Mastercard is seeking to make network tokens the payment standard for purchases initiated by AI agents. On its October 29, 2026, earnings call, Chief Executive Michael Miebach described processor-issued one-time virtual card numbers as a temporary bridge rather than a lasting approach. He said Mastercard would support end-to-end tokenization through Agent Pay to preserve cardholder choice, rewards and spending controls. The company also announced that Shopify is integrating Agent Pay and network tokens into Shop Pay, alongside a strategic partnership with OpenAI covering AI payments and services. Mastercard has been building merchant-facing tools for agentic commerce throughout 2026, but Miebach acknowledged that merchants’ technical readiness remains uneven. Other payments companies are developing their own approaches: Stripe supports agentic network tokens from Mastercard and Visa, while Visa has introduced tools for AI-driven shopping. Consumer concerns about fraud and liability remain a potential barrier to adoption.

Hummingbird announced its acquisition of Quantimon on October 28, 2026, as it works to connect machine-learning risk detection with compliance investigations. Financial terms were not disclosed. Quantimon’s team has joined Hummingbird to build closed-loop transaction monitoring capabilities, while co-founder and CEO Ben Duranske will advise during the transition. The companies had been commercial partners for approximately a year. The proposed feedback loop would use Hummingbird’s structured records of alert resolutions to retrain Quantimon’s detection models. Quantimon claims its algorithms can reduce false-positive alerts by up to 67%; the research provided does not establish how that figure was measured. Its federated learning network is designed to help institutions identify emerging financial crime patterns without sharing underlying customer or transaction data. The deal is Hummingbird’s second acquisition, following its purchase of data automation and integration startup LogicLoop in September 2024.

Guidewire Software has agreed to acquire hyperexponential for $1.7 billion in cash, with up to $400 million more payable if specified post-closing recurring revenue targets are met. The agreement was announced on October 27, 2026. Subject to customary regulatory and antitrust conditions, the transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of Guidewire’s fiscal 2027. The deal would bring hyperexponential’s pricing and underwriting software, including hx Renew and its hyperoperator agentic workbench, into Guidewire’s business. The platform supports decisions across more than $75 billion in annual commercial property and casualty gross written premium. At Guidewire’s Investor Day, CFO Jeff Cooper projected the acquisition would add at least 650 basis points to fiscal 2027 annual recurring revenue growth inorganically, followed by at least 150 basis points of organic ARR expansion annually from fiscal 2028. Guidewire plans to update its fiscal 2027 guidance in December 2026.

Ripple’s final federal trust bank charter, a Moody’s investment-grade rating for RLUSD and a planned expansion of the stablecoin’s availability on Coinbase have strengthened its position as a regulated digital dollar. Coinbase said Global Exchange access, including eligibility to use RLUSD as trading collateral, will follow its initial retail and prime rollout. Moody’s assigned RLUSD an A2 long-term deposit rating and a P-1 short-term rating, the first investment-grade rating it has given a stablecoin. The distinctions behind those developments matter. Ripple National Trust Bank manages RLUSD’s reserve collateral, but the legal issuer remains Standard Custody & Trust Company, a New York-regulated Ripple subsidiary. The national trust bank is uninsured and cannot take commercial retail deposits or extend credit. Moody’s also noted that holders do not currently own the underlying reserves directly and that statutory bankruptcy protections depend on implementation of the GENIUS Act, whose rules take effect in January 2027.

StraitsX has opened onboarding for digital payment token providers across more than 100 markets through an expanded card-issuing architecture developed with Visa. Integration documentation published on 26 October 2026 describes a multi-BIN model that combines issuing sponsorship, transaction authorization, compliance screening and fiat clearing. The approach lets participating providers build stablecoin-backed card products while merchants continue to receive conventional fiat payments through Visa’s network. StraitsX says its card gross transaction value rose 40-fold year on year from Q4 2024 to Q4 2025, while cards issued across Asia increased 83-fold. On-chain issuer telemetry recorded monthly card transaction volume of $310 million to $438 million through October 2026. The company’s stated $6 billion annualized card transaction figure is distinct from its cumulative $70 billion in processed stablecoin volume. StraitsX and Visa have also scheduled demonstrations of agentic payments for November 2026.
